A classic movie and an oscar winner.

Winner of 5 oscar including the best actor in lead role and best movie. With other 17 wins and 12 nominations that includes Grammy, BAFTA, Golden Globes USA, National Society of Film Critics Awards USA, National Film Preservation Board USA – 2002, Writers Guild of America USA.

Lead role: Sidney Poitier a.k.a. Virgil Tibbs, Rod Steiger a.k.a Gillespie.

The movie centres around a mysterious murder in a racist southern town. Where Virgil Tibbs, an African-American is initially taken into custody as a suspect while he was waiting at the station. During investigation, Officer Gillespie finds out that Tibbs is a homicide detective from Philadelphia. With no clue around the murder, he is being asked by his chief to assist the officers solve the case and the officer in Sparta, Mississippi also ask his expertise.

With the racist feeling that Tibbs have to face, he still preserves himself in that racial environment to find the murder.

A must for movie addicts and I bet it can be watched more than a few number of times.
